Below is a list of the status effects that you can use here on FFXSS. While they're mostly used for Class Abilities, you can incorporate status effects into custom abilities, weapons, and items, as long as this is done within reason. Other than that, go nuts!
Status Effects
Positive:
Haste: The affected character’s speed and manoeuvrability are doubled, allowing them to fight at a much faster pace. [Lasts 3 posts]
Protect: A barrier of protective magic surrounds the affected character, halving the damage they receive by physical attacks or skills. Does not affect magic. [Lasts 3 posts]
Shell: A barrier of protective magic surrounds the affected character, halving the damage they receive from magical spells and also halving the effectiveness of any healing spells used on the affected character. Does not affect physical attacks or skills. [Lasts 3 posts]
Reflect: A barrier of protective magic surrounds the affected character, reflecting any spell—including a healing spell—back at the caster of the spell. Does not affect physical attacks or skills. [Lasts 3 posts]
Regen: The affected character receives a dose of healing about equal to a Cure spell at the end of every post until Regen wears off. [Lasts 5 posts]
Neutral:
Berserk: The user becomes overwhelmed with blinding fury, and their physical strength is sharply increased. However, they are unable to do anything in the way of magic or skills, and can only charge wildly and physically attack their opponents with reckless abandon. [Lasts 3 posts]
Negative:
Poison: When afflicted by poison, the victim is weakened by the poison and is also harmed by the poison over time. As their physical condition deteriorates, it becomes harder and harder to successfully fight unless they are healed by some sort of healing magic or the Poison wears off. [Lasts 4 posts]
Confusion: Only applicable to NPCs! When afflicted by confusion, the victim is unable to think things through, and attacks wildly, using random abilities on random targets, possibly even party members or themselves. Confusion can be healed by being attacked physically or by healing magic (e.g. Esuna) [Lasts 3 posts]
Darkness: A dark cloud hangs about the victim’s head, almost completely blocking their vision and making it extremely difficult to see. This causes any skills which require manual aim or physical contact to almost always miss, though magic is usually unaffected. [Lasts 3 posts]
Silence: Bound by a magical seal, the victim is completely unable to speak and cast magic. However, their physical attacks and skills are unaffected. [Lasts 3 posts]
Sleep: The victim falls asleep until another character wakes them up or an enemy physically attacks them. [Lasts 3 posts]
Slow: The victim becomes slow and sluggish, and their overall speed and ability to move is roughly halved. [Lasts 3 posts]
Stop: The victim is completely stopped in time, unable to move or use any abilities or magic. [Lasts 2 posts]
Zombie: The victim gains a greenish hue, becoming undead. For the duration of the zombie status, the victim is damaged by healing magic, and instantly killed by revival magic. [Lasts 5 posts]
