Machinist: Asif seems to have a natural affinity for any and all types of machina. At a glance, he is able to analyze most of how it works, and if it's broken, he'll also know what's wrong with it. Give him half an hour alone with it, and he'll know the thing like the back of his hand, and will be able to take it appart and put it back together flawlessly, and somehow it will be working far better than it used to. Asif has no idea why this happens. This strange affinity even extends to centuries-old derelicts, and salvage is a hobby of his.
Insomniac: Asif seems to need far, far less sleep than other people, and has on one occasion gone for two weeks without sleep before he forced himself get some rest, simply because he wasn't feeling tired at all. Neither does Asif seem to blink much, and this worries him.

Asif does not remember a single thing from before he was fifteen. It was around the time Sin was destroyed that he woke up in the middle of the Bikanel desert with no memory, and only a note pinned to his clothing written in a flowery hand. Your name is Asif Rahim Ibn Khalid Ibn Sa'd Al-Misri. Confused, Asif set off towards the only structure he could see on the horizon, the ruins of Home. It was there where he ran across a salvage expedition who allowed him to join them. During his stay with the expedition, Asif discovered his passion for all things Machina, and his natural skill impressed one of the mechanics enough for him to offer to take Asif on as an apprentice, jokingly adding, “Hell, you look like you could even teach me a few things.”
Apparently, it was true. Asif learned at such a pace that the two quickly surpassed a master-apprentice relationship and began working together as equals, running a prosperous workshop. Asif has come to look at the mechanic as “The father I can't remember I ever had.”
